About Serafim

I have been playing the guitar for over 20 years; have studied music theory in a music academy back in Angola, as well studied music technology at Manchester College. I have participated in many music events around Manchester as well as Manchester festival, Africa festival, Black History Month. Also worked as activity Coordinator in a small community in Stockport Great Manchester, engaging youth people and parents to be part of activities such as music, dance, competitions, quiz and raffles. My musical background is a fusion of Angolan, Brazilian Cuban (Afro-Latin) and Jazz fusion. I play classical, acoustic, electric guitar and keyboard, drums and percussion. I have been teaching my friends and my kids for numerous years. Past successes include one of my ex-students is now a successful musician in Portugal. My teaching style varies from African music, Bossa Nova, Rock Blues and Popular music. I have experience in playing in bands and as solo artist. I also have excellent composition skills and am able to help ensemble bands with composition. Studded foundation degree music at the University of Central Lancashire. Recently completed my degree BA (Hons) Audio & Music production at Accrington College. Music always was my dream, back home in Angola I was about 16-17 years old when I discover my music talent. The guitar was the music instrument that fascinated me the most. There was no condition to buy a brand new guitar then I decided to build my own guitar, made of olive oil tin with a small wood stick and the strings from the fishing line. I gained a comprehensive understanding and an insight into the music industry through studying modules including: Music in Context Composition Workshops Music Production Techniques Performance Techniques Creative Industry Practice Commercial Industry Practice. As well with BA (Hons) Audio & Music Production I gain live sound engineering concepts, music production and sound design skills.

About the lesson

My method is teaching chords with student's favourite song to motivate students in achieving His/Her goal. The concept of chords formation, degree and scale, also music theory and guitar tabs.
