My classes are well structured and based on hatha yoga.
A well-structured yoga class typically follows a specific flow to ensure a balanced and effective practice. Here is a common structure for a yoga class:
Introduction (5 minutes)
Welcome: Greet students and introduce yourself.
Overview: Briefly explain the focus or theme of the class.
Setting Intentions: Encourage students to set a personal intention or goal for their practice.
Warm-up (10-15 minutes)
Breathwork (Pranayama): Begin with breathing exercises to center the mind and prepare the body.
Gentle Movements: Start with gentle stretches and movements to warm up the muscles and joints.
Main Practice (30-40 minutes)
Standing Poses: Flow through a series of standing poses to build strength and balance (e.g., Warrior poses, Triangle).
Flow Sequences: Incorporate vinyasa flows, linking breath with movement (e.g., Sun Salutations).
Balancing Poses: Include balancing poses to improve focus and stability (e.g., Tree Pose).
Core Work: Add poses that engage the core muscles (e.g., Boat Pose).
Peak Pose (5-10 minutes)
Challenging Pose: Introduce a more challenging pose or sequence that aligns with the class theme (e.g., inversions, arm balances).
Cool Down (10-15 minutes)
Seated and Supine Poses: Transition to seated and lying down poses to cool down the body (e.g., Forward Folds, Twists).
Stretching: Focus on deep stretching to release tension and improve flexibility.
Final Relaxation (Savasana) (5-10 minutes)
Guided Relaxation: Lead students into Savasana (Corpse Pose) for deep relaxation and integration of the practice.
Meditation or Mindfulness: Optionally, include a short guided meditation or mindfulness practice.
Closing (5 minutes)
Reflection: Offer a moment for students to reflect on their practice and their intention.
Gratitude: End with a gesture of gratitude (e.g., Namaste).
Announcements: Share any announcements or upcoming events.
This structure can be adjusted based on the style of yoga being taught, the level of the students, and the specific goals of the class.
