About Hannah

I am a dedicated, friendly, and compassionate final-year medical student with a strong academic background in both clinical medicine and population health. I am passionate about delivering patient-centered care that not only addresses physical health, but also the broader social, cultural and systemic factors that influence well-being. I love tutoring and am passionate about helping young people achieve their goals. Outside of my studies, I enjoy playing tennis and hockey, skiing, hiking, and spending time with friends and family.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach is student-centered and adaptable. I prioritize understanding how each student learns best—whether they're visual, auditory, reading/writing, or kinesthetic learners—and tailor my lessons accordingly. I use active engagement techniques such as problem-solving exercises, discussion-based learning, and regular feedback loops to reinforce understanding. I also believe in building confidence alongside competence, so I create a safe and supportive space where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I often break complex topics into manageable segments, using real-life examples to make them more relatable. I also incorporate spaced repetition and retrieval practice—evidence-based strategies to improve memory and long-term learning. Typical Lesson Length: Lessons typically last 60 minutes, which I’ve found is ideal for maintaining concentration while allowing enough time to cover content thoroughly. However, I’m flexible and can adjust the session length based on the student's needs—for example, shorter 30-minute sessions for younger students or extended 90-minute sessions for exam preparation. Qualifications and Experience: I am a final year medical student at the University of Auckland, with a strong background in biology, chemistry, math, and essay writing. I have over 6 years of tutoring experience across high school and university levels. I’ve tutored students in NCEA science and math, medical school prep, CV and cover letter writing, university applications and interview preparation. I offer tutoring for: High school students (Years 9–13) in science, biology, chemistry, and math. As well as high school students looking to apply for University. University students in health sciences, pre-med subjects, and medicine-related content Adult learners preparing for career changes, entry exams, or personal development in health/science areas. I am also happy to tutor primary school students with anything they need help with. Whether you're aiming for top grades, preparing for medical school, or just trying to pass a tough paper, I tailor each lesson to meet your goals and learning style.
