About Erica
My entire career spanning over four decades has been in concentrated in art and teaching. As a professional artist, with decades of teaching experience, I offer my students a wealth of knowledge and develop their skills so they can flourish as artists.
I have achieved measurable success as a professional oil painter and I was merited amongst South Africa's top artists by South African Society of Artists in 1997.
As a private art teacher, I have taught extra curricular classes to students helping them to prepare for examinations, both practical and art history, with greatly improved results.
Art has forever been my passion and I endeavour to enthuse my students with a deeper understanding and appreciation for art.

I'm a professional oil painter with decades of experience, teaching art to all ages of scholars and adults. As a student of mine, you will acquire the fundamentals needed to become a confident artist and gain the knowledge and skills needed to produce beautiful, emotive works of art.
Learn how to draw or paint in a number of mediums. Classes cater for beginner, intermediate as well as accomplished artists, from 12 years old through to adults.
Art classes and courses, that encompass both technical and practical comprehension and application of:
1. Composition (planes, focal points, distance, weight)
2. Tonal value (light source, graduation of light and shadow)
3. Shading (texture, hatching, form) and pointillism
4. Perspective (size, colour, tone) and vanishing points
5. Proportion (angles, vertical and horizontal lines)
6. Colour (mixing, complementary, positioning)
7. Commercial design (menu, logo, book cover, illuminated letters)
8. Illustration (free hand drawing, to a passage of writing)
9. Subjects (portrait, still life, landscape)
10. Oil painting (brush techniques, science of oil paints)
11. History of art (enhanced learning with continual reference visually to the masters and periods)
Mediums: pencil, charcoal, pastels, oils (a list of required art materials will be provided)

Details
Your free introductory lesson will be a casual discussion outlining the course I offer and ascertaining your level of art experience and what you want to achieve from taking lessons with me.
Students can choose from:
1. A comprehensive 11 part course aimed at both beginner and experienced artists. Classes are 3 hours each and can be scheduled weekly or twice weekly. Reduced Package rate = R6,000 (excluding travel)
2. Free form lessons where students can develop an art project of their choice with my professional guidance. Classes are a minimum of 3 hours with 48 hours in advance booking required. Package deals can be offered on request.
