About Hedaya

My name is Hedaya, and I am a native Arabic speaker, a graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a minor in Arabic Studies, an alumna of the American University in Cairo's intensive Arabic program, and a competitive Arabic debater. Through both academic study and real-world immersion, I have developed a strong understanding of Modern Standard Arabic, Egyptian Arabic, and Arabic communication in professional and cultural settings.

My teaching approach is personalized and goal-oriented. Whether you are learning Arabic for school, travel, heritage connection, professional development, or personal interest, I tailor lessons to your needs and learning style. I believe language learning is most effective when students actively use the language, so I incorporate conversation practice, reading, writing, listening exercises, and grammar instruction in a way that feels practical and engaging.

A typical lesson begins with reviewing previous material, introducing new vocabulary or grammar concepts, and then applying those concepts through guided conversation, reading passages, or interactive exercises. Students receive constructive feedback and opportunities to build confidence speaking Arabic from the very beginning.

I work with students of all levels, from complete beginners to more advanced learners looking to strengthen their speaking, reading, writing, or comprehension skills. I also welcome heritage learners who want to reconnect with Arabic and students enrolled in Arabic courses who would like additional support.

What sets me apart is my combination of native fluency, formal academic training, study abroad immersion in Egypt, and experience competing in Arabic debate at the national level. Having learned Arabic in both classroom and real-world environments, I understand the challenges students face and can help them build both linguistic skills and cultural understanding.

Whether you are learning the alphabet for the first time, strengthening your conversational skills, preparing for exams, or improving your reading and writing, lessons will be tailored to your goals and experience level.
