About Rosie

I work as a language tutor for more than 10 years and I have had more than 50 students from everywhere around the world. I started my journey being trained and working in a language private school in Brazil. After some while, I changed my path to be an online private tutor by myself as I keep travelling the world, teaching people and exchanging cultures.

Nowadays, I dedicate myself only to online classes because I believe the flexibility of time is something people are looking for more and more in this modern lifestyle we all have. Technology has allowed us to have classes as similar as face-to-face classes.

I am graduated as a Journalist in the most important university of Latin America (Universidade de São Paulo) and working with expressions, words and languages has always been part of my life. As a traveler, I found myself immersed into cultural exchanges and I bring that to my classes as well.

I proudly have a huge list of various students’ profiles. I have taught people interested on learning the language for work, for travel or for exams. I have had students starting from the scratch with the language and others who were only interested in keeping a conversation to help not losing their knowledge of the language and maintain the fluency. In the end, they all became good friends of mine. :)

About the lesson

My lessons are focused on conversation! And they are made to those students who are looking for learning Portuguese naturally and in a fun way regardless your level of knowledge, with a pinch (a big one!) of cultural exchange. :)

You will notice that the structure of my classes are based on “new subject – grammar practice – day to day practice”. It means:

**NEW SUBJECT: I will always bring a new topic to introduce you (for example: verbs in the future or food vocabulary) and I will explain everything until it's clear for you.

** GRAMMAR PRACTICE: We will make written and oral exercises and grammar practices to make sure you understand how to use it and when to use it.

** DAY TO DAY PRACTICE: To conclude, we will insert this topic into the reality of life. In this moment, we will really use the subject by talking, discussing about a news article, simulating a day-to-day conversation, watching a video or playing roles. Here is where you absorb the message by experiencing this as a real speaker.

I DON'T WORK WITH LITERAL TRANSLATIONS DURING THE CLASSES AND I TELL YOU WHY: I truly believe that, when it comes about learning a new language, our brain works as a brain of a child. We learn more naturally and faster when experimenting, creating memories, by the needs and by the feelings. The same way you learned, as a baby, that you had to say “water” every time you were thirsty, you can associate other situations and needs with many other sentences as words and create a whole language map in your mind. With the time, it becomes the oral fluency you are looking for. :)

I will speak as much Portuguese as I can during the classes to help making you familiar with the language and feel more and more comfortable about listening to it and speaking it.

Perfect! Rosie is a wonderful tutor!!! Very friendly and very competent. Always well prepared. Very interesting material. And also open to suggestions if you would like to talk about something specific. What I liked most is her emphasis on speaking. But she also teaches you grammar and vocabulary very well. Details

The rate for 1 hour of class is 15£

I accept group classes (maximum of 3 people per group). The students will be charged individually.

The method of payment and frequency is negotiable: PayPal and Bank Transfer, every week, every 2 weeks, monthly of by pack of lessons.

My cancellation policy: the "no show" will be charged. You are free to cancel any class and I won't charge you as long as you can give me a notice in advance (at least 3 hours before).
