About Nikkita

Hi! I'm Nik and I'm from Manchester but I live in Nottingham now. I'm enthusiastic, friendly and patient - What more could you want from a teacher, right? I love reading, walks in nature, travelling and spending time with family and friends. I find the English language truly fascinating and I can't wait to share my passion with you!

About the lesson

I'm a CELTA qualified teacher with a degree in English and teaching English to speakers of other languages. I have been teaching English as a second language for 4 years now to both adults and older children (10+) and I thoroughly enjoy it! A typical lesson lasts around 50 - 60 minutes. I teach adults predominantly, although have extensive experience teaching older children too. When teaching 1-2-1, I like to work with you to learn exactly what your goals and aspirations are. I want to get to know your interests, likes and dislikes during our trial lesson so I can ensure your lessons are interesting and engaging. While your lessons will be based around the 3rd edition cutting edge course books, I adapt the resources specifically to suit your preferences. For example, if you hate gap fill activities, where possible, I would avoid these to ensure your learning experience is as enjoyable as possible. I currently offer conversational English Language, and General English classes. Let's embark on an exciting journey of English language learning together! I'm a passionate and patient tutor with years of experience. I'll tailor our lessons to your interests and preferences, making sure they're engaging and enjoyable. Whether it's conversational English or general English, let's achieve your goals and have fun along the way! During my training years, I taught skills booster sessions at a local language school. These sessions were 2 - 3 hours long and provided me with invaluable experience of teaching adults from various parts of the world. I really love learning about our culture. I believe it helps me to understand you as a student and develop myself as both a person and a professional. Once I graduated in 2020, during the pandemic, I began working in a secondary school as a reading and EAL intervention tutor. In this role I assisted lower ability students with reading. I also worked with beginner level (A1) students aged 11 - 15 on their general English while assisting them in class too. In addition to this, I worked with GCSE English language and Literature students on the skills needed to help them pass their GCSE English at a base pass (4). Of the students in my groups, 75% of the students I tutored passed English Language or Literature. I then moved onto another specialist provision where I taught English as an additional language to students aged 11 - 15 years from Czech, Romania and Slovakia. In this role I worked with mainly Pre intermediate (Upper A2) level students to develop their English in an academic setting across all subjects; English, Maths, Science, PSHE, IT and Cookery. This role involved lots of patience and understanding.
