About Luana

I am a UNSW student currently enrolled in their medical program. Originally from Mauritius, I went through the primary and secondary French school system there and received my French baccalaureate with the highest honours. While not having much experience in professional tutoring except for Mathematics, I have given conversational lessons in French and believe it to be one of the most effective ways to learn a language! Additionally, I have participated in the national Alliance Française competitions since I was 13 and have placed first 5 times in a row. All of this to say that I am (quite) passionate and proud of my language and would love to pass this enthusiasm onto more people (including you)!

About the lesson

I like to think of the first session as an introduction to your current knowledge and understanding in French as well as your goals and desires with the language. Whether it is for your own personal development, your studies or a specific examination, we all have an idea of the level of comfort we wish to achieve when learning a language, and I will help you get there! We can structure sessions based on your needs, but I generally suggest interactive sessions integrating reading, writing, speaking and listening for a holistic take on French! I can also give and help with homework AND take great pride in my literature, music and movie recommendations so get ready for a full immersion!

Perfect! Luana is an incredible French tutor! She is very patient, friendly and fantastic at tailoring lessons to your interests. I have been studying with her for two months and I've noticed a big improvement. I highly recommend Lou's tutoring!

Perfect! Lou is a very fun and engaging French tutor. I'm 2 months in learning French from not knowing anything and have already made some amazing progress. She has great knowledge of conversation and theory. Highly recommend :)

Perfect! Luana is a fantastic teacher. She was able to adapt her teaching approach to meet my particular need for a relatively unstructured approach to help me to integrate and use the things that I have already learned. I was particularly eager to practice talking and she has been a huge help to me with this. I was very impressed by her ability to adapt quickly to my needs and to help me make progress in the way that I wanted. I have a long-term medical condition and she was able to cope with the same admirable flexibility with the constraints that this causes. I could not recommend Luana strongly enough as a knowledgeable, intelligent, enthusiastic and capable teacher.

You will enjoy the fact that the content of the lessons is structured and has a clear focus/objective; thus allowing you to see the progression you are making. The lessons themselves progress at a speed that is comfortable, allowing you to cement your understanding as you progress. I simply cannot recommend Luana's teaching highly enough and can only encourage you to give it a try!

Not only is Luana exceptionally fluent in English, but she is also one of the best native French speakers I know, so much so that, in my opinion, her grasp of the French language is second to none. Her hard work even made her win several prizes with the Alliance Française Institute in Mauritius. She has had a French education in Mauritius, so she was able to witness what teaching techniques worked best for the students and I am sure that as soon as she is able to know you better, she will create a plan that is uniquely yours and will cater to your own personal goals. Also, she has a great personality, and I would highly suggest listening to any music and movies recommendations she might have.
