About TZU-TSEN

Hi! I'm a native Mandarin speaker from Taiwan and a first-year medical student currently living in Launceston.

When I'm not studying, I enjoy listening to all kinds of music, from Mandarin pop songs and Taiwanese rock bands to J-pop, K-pop and English-language songs.
I also enjoy cooking, reading novels and comics, and watching dramas.

If you're interested in Chinese history and culture, I've spent a lot of time exploring these topics myself, and we can incorporate them into our lessons if you'd like. This could be a great way to learn Mandarin while also exploring the stories and traditions behind the language!!

I enjoy relaxed conversations and getting to know people's interests. You can choose whether you'd prefer a more structured lesson or a casual, conversation-based approach, depending on what you are comfortable with and what you hope to achieve.

Most importantly, I hope to create a comfortable environment where you can ask questions, make mistakes and practice Mandarin at your own pace.

About the lesson

I offer personalized Mandarin lessons for children, teenagers and adults, from complete beginners to advanced learners.

My lessons can be tailored to your goals, whether you want to build confidence in everyday conversation, improve your reading and writing, prepare for Chinese study, or explore Chinese culture and literature.

What I can teach:

• Traditional & Simplified Chinese – learn whichever writing system suits your needs
• Pinyin or Zhuyin (Bopomofo) – I can teach either system depending on your preference
• Young learners – engaging activities, stories and natural conversation to make Mandarin enjoyable
• Teenagers & adults – practical conversation, reading, writing and more advanced Chinese
• Chinese culture & literature – I can also introduce Chinese history, poetry, essays and Classical Chinese for students who are interested

I believe lessons should be adapted to each student's learning style and goals rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.

Qualifications: Ranked in the top 1% nationwide in Mandarin Chinese in Taiwan's National University Entrance Exam, with a strong academic background in Chinese reading, writing, literature and essay composition.

Location: Online or in-person in Launceston. Location can be discussed depending on your preference.
