About Alex
I am deeply passionate about teaching and math. I pride myself on being able to explain my thoughts and feedback with clarity and in a helpful manner, and am patient and willing to adapt to the needs of my students. I performed well enough in my high school math to end up at Northwestern with a 35 ACT superscore and all A's in every math class I ever took. My father is a math professor with a degree from Harvard, which meant that I spent a lot of my formative years soaking up teaching techniques and tutoring skills. I think that I offer a mix of math ability, tutoring ability, and people skills to make me a good option for anyone looking to get some extra help in the realm of mathematics.

I believe that many people don't have an issue with the concepts of math as much as they do with the execution. My teaching reflects this, as I try to keep the lecturing to a minimum, unless I deem it necessary, and use it more as a tool to help you get into actually performing the operations you are learning. This allows you to have a good understanding of the subjects you are learning, and also be able to actually showcase this understanding on tests. The main thing that sets me apart as a tutor is my clarity of feedback and explanation. I pride myself on being a skilled speaker who can explain his thoughts well, and this translates very well to tutoring. These lessons are mainly aimed at advanced middle school students or high school students.
