I work with two girls aged ten and thirteen, I use a British textbook Key Stage Three Mathematics (Higher level), I found it a great book for that age. The book is well designed, there are many examples and tasks, the material is explained in a simple and accessible way.
I also work with a 15-year-old student, he is more capable and requires a lot more attention and effort to load him, I also use a British textbook Mathematics for GCSE and IGGSE . It contains a lot of examples and tasks, while covering a lot of different topics, but there are no difficult enough tasks that could load more capable student. The theory is presented inconsistently, so I only follow the direction outlined in the book, I give my own explanation and select more interesting tasks from internet, from old Soviet books. As we move forward in the study of the material, and we get acquainted with geometry, trigonometry with systems of equations, I include problems in physics. I try to give homework both simple and complex, if the student does not cope with the task, then in the next lesson we analyze the task in detail, or I explain the idea, or just give him a hint and give the same task again as homework. It is very important that the student finds the solution himself, then it motivates him to solve new problems.
