About Kyle
I’m Kyle, a passionate chess player and competitor based in Kilkenny, Ireland. I am currently rated 1785 FIDE (peak 1851) and have competitive tournament experience, including winning The City of Dublin 2025 Challengers section. I’ve been playing chess seriously for the past few years and have developed a deep interest in understanding the game and continuously improving.
What I enjoy most about chess is the process of learning and problem-solving, and I find it really rewarding to help others experience that same improvement. I know how frustrating it can feel to be stuck at the same level, and my goal is to make the game clearer and more enjoyable for my students.
I’m patient, approachable, and focused on creating a relaxed environment where you can learn without feeling overwhelmed. Whether you’re just starting or looking to improve, I’m here to help you build confidence and enjoy the game.

In my lessons, I focus on practical improvement and helping you understand how to think during a game, rather than just memorizing moves.
Each session is tailored to your level and typically lasts 60 minutes. We will analyze your own games, identify key mistakes, and work on the most important areas for your improvement such as tactics, opening principles, and decision-making.
My approach is simple, structured, and focused on results. I aim to help you reduce blunders, build confidence, and improve your rating as efficiently as possible.
Lessons are suitable for beginners and intermediate players (up to around 1400), including both adults and younger players. I keep the sessions interactive, clear, and enjoyable so that you stay motivated and continue improving over time.
