About Ethel

I am a cheerful, technological and motivating English and Spanish teacher. During my years as a teacher trainee and after obtaining my degree, I have worked in different teaching contexts, such as online learning platforms, private Spanish and English institutes, public schools, tertiary teacher training institutes and rural schools. I have worked with students of all ages, I have been a teacher trainer and I have even been an Institute coordinator of studies. I am committed to my professional development, having completed the Cambridge CELTA course and a Spanish grammar course endorsed by the Instituto Cervantes. Recently, I was honoured to receive a Fulbright TEA award, which allowed me to participate in a six-week teacher development course at UMASS Lowell. I can gratefully state that this experience has enhanced my skills as both an educator and a cultural representative. I am currently pursuing a postgraduate course focused on teaching Spanish as a second language and I am exploring opportunities for growth in digital education environments. To share a bit more about myself, I hail from the small town of Basail in north Argentina. There, I attended a rural school, where I was fortunate to be inspired more than once by itinerant teachers. However, the small size of my town did not prevent me from continuing my studies and achieving my goals of travelling the world to explore remote places and cultures such as Iceland, New Zealand, and Vietnam. In my travels I have had intercultural experiences that taught me how to harmoniously interact with people from other cultures. As for my interests and hobbies, I am an active person who enjoys travelling, trekking, and snowboarding. In recent years, I have travelled and lived in various parts of Argentina and the world. I have always wanted to see what lies beyond my small town, which is why I have travelled and worked in remote places like Patagonia, Vietnam, Costa Rica and the US. My goals as a teacher and as a traveller are to share empathy and to be motivating. I fervently believe in the power of language learning for personal growth as well as for intercultural understanding.
