About Andrea

I teach at a university in Rome on a training course for learning-support tutors who work with students with dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties. The course is aimed at educators and professionals in the field, and I lead the modules on the use of artificial intelligence in tutoring. I also teach philosophy and religion, in English, at an American university in Italy.

I am also active in research. I have published two systematic reviews: one on the effectiveness of AI-based interventions for students with learning difficulties (Brain Sciences, 2025), the other on pragmatic language disorders as predictors of psychopathological outcomes in childhood and adolescence.

I hold a bachelor's degree in philosophy and a degree in psychology, with a postgraduate specialisation in developmental psychology. I also studied mathematics and physics at university level in an engineering faculty.

For 15 years I have worked exclusively in one-to-one teaching or with small groups of students at a similar level, always online, in English and Italian. More than 10,000 hours of lessons and hundreds of satisfied students, with every kind of problem and request. I have handled some very difficult situations with excellent results in final school exams. I have also worked with students who had simply lost all interest in studying, university students struggling with their dissertation and, of course, the simpler cases of help with a specific subject or topic ahead of exams, assignments or tests.

The first thing I always work on is motivation, which is essential to rebuild the self-confidence that school has usually worn down in students with dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD or autism. The best way is to build a relationship of trust and respect, and to show them how a few simple techniques can bring immediate improvement, especially in algebra and arithmetic. Then comes the longer and harder phase: consolidating that progress and guiding them, as far as possible, towards greater independence, also with assistive tools and the AI applications I research and teach about.

I usually work together with the psychologist or the other professionals who support the student, to understand their needs and find the best approach case by case. Lessons are in English or Italian.
