About Bonita

I am a self-motivated and ambitious educator who has passion for working
with children of all ages but especially little minds in foundation phase. My
effort and enthusiasm as a teacher influence students’ commitment and
interest in my field.
When learning new things I always try to learn through my own mistakes.
Being myself and doing my best is my best characteristic.
I’m friendly, willing, trustworthy and enthusiastic.
I see myself as positive, self-motivated and someone who can work on my
own and in a group,that can achieve tasks that is given to me.

I have a great love of children, whether it’s teaching them, doing counselling,
supporting them with physical or emotional challenges, or just being around
them. I strive to get to know children on a deeper level, striving to support
them where I can. I’ve been working at Thornview Prestige College since 2015, as a teacher.
Through these 4 years I’ve been granted many opportunities to learn and to
grow in my professional career.

Tertiary Education:
 UNISA: Post Graduate certificate in Education (Foundation Phase and
Early Childhood development) in Foundation Phase – 2015
 Centurion Academy: Studied 3 years at Centurion Academy towards
my Sports Science and Management diploma and specialised in Child
Kinetics.

- First Aid Level 2 Acquired 2016
- Grade R Grade Head 2016 - 2018
- Lesson planning for the whole grade
- Rubric planning for all subjects
- Assessment planning for each term for the whole grade
- Setting up mark/recording sheets
- Assisting teachers with parent meetings
- Pre-School discipline head: Handling all discipline related
challenges concerning learners and working with their parents
- Involved in doing the budget planning together with the principal
- Involved in planning the graduation each year
- Collaborating with the Deputy Principal in making decisions and
implementing strategies to support pre-school
- Supported other new Prestige Colleges with what we do in our
curriculum
- Orientation and implementation of student teachers

About the lesson

I like student being actively involved in lesson.
Though I have a lesson plan, I give learners the opportunity to do "self teaching". By doing this,learners feel more engaged and encouraged to explore and to make their own contributions, interactive learning takes place in this way.

I really try to make learners feel more involved during lessons rather than just to teach from a lesson plan
