About Joanna
I’m a dedicated piano tutor with 2 years of teaching experience and a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Piano Performance. My passion is helping serious students grow into confident and creative jazz pianists. I work closely with learners who are preparing for advanced jazz studies at conservatoires such as Berklee, Juilliard, and other leading music institutions.
My lessons combine technical precision with artistic exploration. We focus on essential jazz skills such as chord voicings, rhythmic phrasing, improvisation, and harmonic understanding. Technique is important, but creativity is just as essential.
Students also learn how to approach jazz repertoire with confidence and musical personality. I guide them through practice strategies that strengthen both their technique and their improvisational voice. Each student brings unique musical ideas to the piano.
My goal is to unlock that potential and help students perform at an advanced level. Lessons are focused, supportive, and inspiring. Together we work toward expressive, confident jazz performance and strong preparation for conservatoire-level programmes.

My teaching approach focuses on helping students experience the depth and beauty of classical piano music. I believe that strong technique and musical understanding must grow together. In every lesson, students work on touch, tone, rhythm, and control at the keyboard.
We also study classical repertoire in detail. I guide students through musical forms such as sonata form, rondo, and theme and variations so they understand how great pieces are structured. When students see how the music is built, their performances become clearer and more confident.
Historical context is also an important part of learning. We explore the lives of composers and the musical traditions of their time. This helps students connect emotionally with the music they perform.
Expressive interpretation is always encouraged. Students learn to shape phrases, balance dynamics, and communicate feeling through every note. Some students also discover that piano practice becomes a peaceful and reflective experience. My goal is to help each learner develop a refined and thoughtful performance style. Together we bring classical masterpieces to life with depth and imagination.
