About Kyle

Hi, I’m Kyle. I have a degree in Honors Mathematics and a Master’s in Electrical Engineering in Signal Processing from the University of Michigan. I have been applying math daily with over 20 years of professional experience in software engineering and scientific research.

I began tutoring math and physics while in high school and continued through college, so teaching has been something I’ve been doing for a long time. Over the years, I’ve developed a clear, patient approach that helps students understand difficult concepts and build confidence.

Throughout my career, I’ve applied math to solve real-world problems, including improving the accuracy of GPS systems and working on measurements of the Earth (geodesy) with extremely high precision. This background allows me to bring a practical perspective to the material, helping students understand not just how math works, but why it matters.

I take professionalism seriously. I show up on-time and prepared, communicate clearly, and tailor each session to the student’s needs and goals. Whether a student is trying to catch up, keep up, or get ahead, I provide structured, focused support in a calm and respectful environment.

I’m patient, reliable, and committed to helping students build confidence in their abilities. My goal is not just to help students solve individual problems, but to give them the skills and understanding they need to succeed on their own.

Hi, I’m Kyle. I have a degree in Honors Mathematics and a Master’s in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, along with over 20 years of experience applying math in both software engineering and scientific research.

My teaching approach focuses on building real understanding rather than memorization. I break down complex ideas into clear, simple steps and connect them to intuitive concepts so students understand why things work. I adapt each lesson to the student, whether they need structure, repetition, or a greater challenge.

A typical lesson starts by identifying where the student is getting stuck, then working through key concepts together before moving into guided practice. Over time, I help students become more confident and independent problem solvers.

What sets me apart is my real-world experience using math to solve meaningful problems. Most recently, as an Engineering Scientist with the Applied Research Laboratories at The University of Texas, I applied math to improve the accuracy of GPS systems and to measure the position of the Earth with extreme precision, down to about a millimeter. I bring this perspective into my lessons to help students see how math is actually used outside the classroom.

My lessons are ideal for middle school, high school, and college students, including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus, linear algebra, and analysis. I work well with students who are struggling and need clear explanations, as well as those looking to deepen their understanding or that are looking to get ahead.
