About Patricia

- What kind of experience do you have?

I was a Senior Lecturer in Nursing for over thirty years. During this time, I marked and provided detailed feedback to students on their academic work and chaired examination boards. I have had my own private tuition and proofreading business for more than three years, and I work as an Academic Skills Tutor in a university.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

- Where and with whom did you train?

My nurse training was at University College Hospital, London, Diploma in Nursing Education at The Royal College of Nursing, London, and MA and EdD at The Open University.

- Do you belong to any professional organisations?

Royal College of Nursing, Higher Education Academy.

- Tell me about some of your current students.

Currently, I have student nurses studying at all levels. I also have several Post-Grad. and PhD students. I have students who want help with academic skills/proofreading who are studying other health and social care subjects. I help students who have dyslexia or those for whom English is their second language.

About the lesson

Hi students, I am an experienced Senior Lecturer in Nursing with a Doctorate in Education. I provide academic coaching for individuals or groups and I can also give you feedback and proofread your work. I offer a professional friendly service.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

Nursing and academic writing skills

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I have a Doctorate in Education, a teaching qualification (Diploma in Nursing Education) and I am a qualified Nurse.

- How much do you charge?

I charge from £50 - £60 per hour for face-to-face and the same for online tuition (I also offer group tutorials - so you can share the cost). I charge from £15.00 - £20 per 1000 words for proofreading/feedback. There is an extra charge for a fast turnaround.

- Where do you teach?

I offer online tutorials by Skype or FaceTime if you wish. I also tutor face to face at home. I live in Welwyn, Hertfordshire.

- When are you available?

I am available for tutorials on Monday, Thursday and Friday. I am also available for online tutorials most evenings, except Fridays and weekends. I can proofread at most times.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

University students - over 18.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

Degree in Nursing, Masters' level in health subjects and extra guidance at PhD level.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

I can offer this via Skype, Facetime or Zoom

- Do you have a personal message for students?

I like to offer a personal, friendly service and would really like to help you develop your academic writing to achieve higher grades and submit work that you can be proud of.

I would recommend Pat to every student! In my final year at university, I struggled a lot, particularly with my academic work.
