About Senuk
My name is Senuk, and I am originally from Sri Lanka. I am currently a BCom student at the University of Auckland.
I am currently coaching a small group of students, and I enjoy seeing their progress as they play stronger games and achieve top positions in tournaments. I am now looking to expand my chess community and share my knowledge with more students, helping them improve their skills and develop a deeper understanding of the game.

I coach beginner and intermediate level players. Any age is fine.
One lesson is normally 1 hour but can change duration according to player's preference.
I use a structured and student-focused approach to teaching chess, tailored to each student’s current level and goals. For beginners, I focus on building a strong foundation by teaching core principles such as piece development, control of the center, and basic checkmating patterns. For intermediate players, I introduce deeper concepts like tactical awareness, positional play, and strategic planning.
My lessons are interactive and practice-based. I guide students through real game scenarios, puzzles, and analysis so they can understand not just what moves to play, but why they work. I also review students’ games to identify mistakes and provide clear, practical ways to improve.
I emphasize pattern recognition, calculation skills, and disciplined thinking to help students make better decisions under pressure. Each lesson is planned in advance and adjusted based on the student’s progress, ensuring consistent improvement over time.
