About Berkli
Hello! My name is Berkli Lackey, and I’m passionate about helping students reach their fullest potential through personalized, encouraging, and effective instruction. With a strong background in education and years of experience supporting learners of all levels, I bring both expertise and empathy to every tutoring session. I am a certified teacher with a Bachelor's in Education and a teaching certificate that allows me to teach EC-6th. I also obtained a Master's Degree in Counseling from WTAMU and did behavioral counseling with children 3-18 for two years before I decided to come back to teaching. I am currently working on a Master's in Educational Leadership in Curriculum and Instruction at WTAMU with my Principal licensure included. I believe that every student is capable of success when given the right tools, guidance, and confidence. My teaching style is structured yet flexible — I adapt lessons to each student’s individual learning needs and pace. I focus not only on mastering academic content, but also on developing strong study habits, critical thinking skills, and self-confidence that extend far beyond the classroom. My approach blends proven instructional strategies with patience and positivity. I take time to explain concepts clearly, celebrate progress, and ensure students truly understand why things work — not just how. Whether I’m helping a student strengthen foundational skills, prepare for a major exam, or rediscover a love for learning, I aim to make every session meaningful and motivating. As a tutor, I’m committed to professionalism, consistency, and results. Parents and students can trust that I’ll bring preparation, clear communication, and genuine care to each interaction. My Approach as a Tutor- Teaching Method & Techniques: I believe every student learns differently, so my teaching approach is centered on meeting each learner where they are. I use a blend of direct instruction, guided practice, and real-world application to make learning both meaningful and lasting. I focus on building understanding first — not memorization — by using visuals, questioning techniques, and frequent check-ins to ensure comprehension and confidence. Typical Lesson Plan: Each session begins with a quick review or check-in to see how the student is feeling about previous material. Then, we move into a focused mini-lesson that introduces or reinforces key concepts. After that, students practice the skill through interactive activities, problem-solving, or applied examples. We always end with a reflection or quick summary so the student can express what they learned and where they still need support. What Sets Me Apart: I make learning personal, patient, and positive. I don’t just teach content — I teach students how to learn. My sessions are encouraging, structured, and adaptable. I build relationships and tailor lessons to each student’s pace, strengths, and goals. I also incorporate strategies for organization, study habits, and confidence-building that extend beyond the subject itself. Who My Lessons Are For: I specialize in working with elementary through middle school students who need support in reading, writing, and math — including test preparation, study skills, and foundational reinforcement. My lessons are ideal for students who need individualized attention, are looking to strengthen academic confidence, or simply want to excel beyond the classroom.
