About Madeleine
I am a pharmacology student at Newcastle University and I have plenty of experience teaching both music and academic subjects. I am easy to talk to and I know how difficult getting to grips with certain subjects is and I always make sure my students understand the content before we move on.
I grew up in Sheffield and have partaken in many extracurricular activities, which I have thoroughly enjoyed and which have rounded me as a person. I enjoyed dance lessons in ballet and tap for thirteen years as well as horse riding, swimming and hockey. I still play the cello for which I have a grade eight qualification and I also teach piano lessons . I have volunteered at the Sheffield Children's Orchestra where I help the children improve their musical skills. I have also helped out at a sports day for a special needs school where I supervised a group of children while they enjoyed an afternoon of sports games organised by us.

My name is Maddy, I am a pharmacology student and I offer lessons to those preparing for their GCSE's or A levels.
I achieved grades of A*A*A in biology, chemistry and history respectively at A level and I studied the compulsory subjects at GCSE (the new 9-1 style) as well as French, Music, History and Separate Sciences, and got an 8 (A* equivalent) in each of them (7/A in History)
In lessons, I believe in an approach that requires the active recall of information, which is the act of stimulating the memory. Hence, each lesson will begin with a starter consisting of previously covered material. This way, the student not only remembers better, but gaps in their knowledge and understanding can also be highlighted and addressed.
The main 'chunk' of the lesson will then focus on covering new material. Using a 'checklist' of topics to cover provided by either the exam specification or by the student themselves, we will go over detail and discuss this together.
Depending on the system preferred by the student, the end of the lesson will consist of setting/ going through homework, which is a key way in which a student can consolidate their knowledge.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
She is very studious herself, so was very good at encouraging me to work during my exams. She is also very good at explaining things and has an in depth knowledge of her subjects making her an excellent tutor. Her passion for music also makes her a very spirited and interesting tutor.
Madeleine and I are friends from school who have been in several classes together where I have not only watched her brilliance have also had the privilege of being helped by her. She is one of the most hardworking and reliable people I know. She has a genuine passion for, and understanding of biology- as well as many other subjects. However, one of the more important points to note, is that Madeleine is a genuine and caring person who will always put you and how you feel first.
Madeleine is a lovely person who has personally helped me with biology homework in the past and got an 8/ A* at GCSE.
