About Georgina
I'm a 4th year PhD student in Organic Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry at the University of Oxford. I hold a First-Class Master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Bristol, and throughout my academic journey, I’ve applied organic chemistry across a range of fields—from organic synthesis to archaeology and palaeoclimate research. As a tutor, I have a proven track record of success, with all my students improving by at least two grades. I also have experience supporting special needs students, both in a specialist school setting and through an AFASIC youth club for individuals with communication needs. I look forward to getting to know each student individually and sharing the excitement I feel for chemistry. When taught properly, chemistry transforms from something abstract and intimidating into a subject full of logic, beauty, and insight into the world around us.

I believe in tailoring each lesson to the individual student using a student-led approach. Lessons are guided by the student's needs—whether that's preparing for exams or deepening their understanding of topics covered in school. Chemistry can often feel non-intuitive, creating a barrier to understanding. I help break down that barrier by using real-world examples and 3D models to show how reactions work on a molecular level. For exam preparation, I provide structured support with access to a wide range of past papers to build skills and confidence. For more advanced undergraduate Organic Chemistry, I specialise in teaching from first principles. I guide students through orbital theory and mechanistic reasoning to develop a truly intuitive understanding of organic reactions. This approach empowers students to predict reaction outcomes from molecular structures alone—removing the need for rote memorisation.
