About Kanishka
Over my 10 years of experience, I have taught college-level students in subjects ranging from environmental engineering and hydrology to philosophy. Seeing students experience the joy of a breakthrough in learning, or becoming confident in their abilities has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my working life. Over the past 2 years, I have also taught GED-level math to inmates at a state prison, and this has further helped in enhancing my compassion for students with a range of different backgrounds and learning style requirements. I care sincerely and deeply about student progress, not just in the sense of what they are learning explicitly, but their belief in themselves.

I care deeply and sincerely that my students learn, but also that they develop a sense of confidence and belief in themselves. Over my years of teaching, I have had experience not just in a college classroom setting, but also with inmates at a state prison. This has helped me in developing an earnest compassion for students and evaluating what their very specific learning needs are. I often have "diagnostic" conversations with students to better understand where the source of any confusion lies, so that we can build a strong foundation. I aim to help them understand "how" to think about certain problems so that they are better prepared for creative or "off-the-wall" questions, bring in real-life examples, and learn through repetition and practice until concepts and processes become second nature. Beyond all this, I have honest conversations with my students about what they believe they need to succeed.
My lessons range from middle school to college-level math (arithmetic, geometry, algebra, calculus, statistics and probability).
