About Saverio

I am a PhD student in Economics and Finance at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and a research assistant at the Venice Centre in Economic and Risk Analytics for Public Policies (VERA).

I earned the Erasmus Mundus Master's Degree in Quantitative Economics (QEM) at the Paris School of Economics and Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, completing an international program spanning Belgium, Italy, and France. In my master's thesis, I developed a computational model that simulates an economy and measures its outcomes using Monte Carlo methods: distributions, estimates, and variability. The work was selected for presentation at the Sorbonne Workshop in Economic Theory (SWET) 2026 in Paris.

Teaching is something I've always enjoyed, even before formally doing it. During my studies, I often found myself helping classmates understand topics that had remained abstract or counterintuitive in class. It was precisely in those moments that I realized how much I enjoyed making complex concepts accessible and demonstrating the logic that connects formulas, models, and procedures.

Today, I bring to my classes the same approach I use in research: rigor, attention to detail, and the habit of reasoning through problems, rather than mechanically applying steps. With this profile, I want to share with students the working method I developed during my international training and which I continue to refine every day through research in quantitative economics.

Statistics and mathematics are the subjects most often studied by recipes: you learn which formula to use in which case, you pass the exam, and six months later, nothing remains. My goal is for you to be left with the reasoning, not the list.

My method starts with you: your way of thinking, the difficulties you encounter, and the goal you want to achieve. The first lesson, free of charge, is designed to understand these aspects. Together, we identify your starting level, how you learn best—tackling exercises directly or proceeding step by step—and the type of learning path best suited to your needs. From there, I build a personalized strategy. If your goal is to pass an exam, we work specifically on the syllabus, the most common exercises, and the difficulties that can slow you down. If, on the other hand, you want to understand the subject more deeply, we dedicate more time to theory, the connections between concepts, and in-depth analysis.

Lessons combine explanations, examples, and exercises, with active student involvement. My goal is not simply to guide you through the solution during class, but to help you develop a method that allows you to tackle problems and exercises independently.

I have a background in quantitative economics and am accustomed to working with models, data, mathematical and statistical tools. That's why I don't just explain a procedure: I try to clarify the underlying logic. True understanding means not having to mechanically memorize formulas and steps, but being able to reconstruct and use them through reasoning.

If you need help, we also work on the practical part in MATLAB, Python, R, or Excel. Each student also has access to a shared folder with notes, completed exercises, and support materials, so the entire course is organized and always available.

The lessons are aimed at undergraduate and graduate students in Economics, Statistics, Management Engineering, and related disciplines, both those starting from the basics and those tackling more advanced topics.
