About George

I am currently a 3rd year PhD student studying marine biology with an emphasis on behavioral ecology. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in marine biology and wildlife biology in 2018 from Griffith University in Australia. In 2022, I completed my Master of Science degree where I studied marine biology. Specifically, my research focused on seagrass ecology related to major fishery species on the east coast of the US. After completing my masters, I began my PhD where I transitioned into behavioral ecology. I have a strong background in biology and am comfortable tutoring subjects including biology, ecology, marine biology, evolutionary biology, and genetics. In addition, I have been teaching undergraduate ecology labs at my university for the past 4 years.

About the lesson

Teaching Method and Techniques:
As a tutor, I employ a student-centered approach, focusing on active learning techniques to engage students in the learning process. I believe in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas, and exploring concepts through hands-on activities, discussions, and collaborative projects. I also utilize a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, group work, demonstrations, multimedia presentations, and interactive simulations, to accommodate different learning styles and preferences.

A Typical Lesson Plan:
A typical lesson plan with me involves clear learning objectives, a structured outline of activities, and opportunities for assessment and feedback. Each lesson begins with an engaging introduction to pique students' interest and establish the relevance of the topic. I then present the core content using a combination of visual aids, demonstrations, and real-world examples to enhance understanding. Hands-on activities, discussions, and problem-solving tasks are integrated throughout the lesson to encourage active participation and critical thinking. I always allocate time for review and reflection at the end of the lesson to reinforce key concepts and address any lingering questions or misconceptions.
