About Nemean

Hello! I'm Nemean, a PhD researcher at the London Interdisciplinary Doctoral Programme, where I'm developing innovative treatments for antibiotic-resistant urinary tract infections. My academic journey has been both challenging and rewarding; as someone with dyslexia, I've learned that success in science isn't about being naturally gifted, but about finding the right strategies and never giving up. I graduated with First-Class Honours in Biological Sciences (Cell Biology) from University College London, achieving A* grades in Biology, Psychology, and an A Chemistry at A-Level. This academic success didn't come easily - I've experienced firsthand the frustration of traditional teaching methods not matching my learning style. This personal experience drives my passion for tutoring and has shaped my teaching philosophy: every student can excel with the right support and approach. Why I Teach Teaching isn't just a job for me - it's my way of giving back and helping students overcome the same challenges I faced. There's nothing more rewarding than seeing a student's face light up when a complex concept finally clicks, or receiving a message that they've achieved the grade they worked so hard for. I've guided students from D grades to A grades by showing them that science isn't about memorisation; it's about understanding and making connections. My Professional Experience Beyond tutoring, I bring real-world scientific expertise to my lessons. I've conducted research internationally, including work at the Laboratory for Molecular and Cellular Technology in Brussels, where I helped develop personalised bacteriophage treatments for patients across Europe. As a faculty member for ESCMID postgraduate workshops, I've taught complex microbiological techniques to doctors and researchers, refining my ability to explain sophisticated concepts in clear and accessible ways. My current PhD research keeps me at the forefront of biological sciences, allowing me to share cutting-edge examples and inspire students with the real-world applications of what they're learning. About the lesson

My Approach: As a dyslexic learner who achieved academic success, I understand that everyone processes information differently. I use visual diagrams, mind maps, and real-world examples to make complex concepts stick. Each lesson is tailored to your learning style - whether you're a visual, auditory, or kinaesthetic learner. Teaching Methodology: Start with a quick review and address any questions from previous material Introduce new concepts using analogies and practical applications from my research Work through problems together, encouraging active participation Provide structured notes with visual aids and memory techniques End with a summary and practice questions for reinforcement Lesson Structure: Typical lessons are 60 minutes, though I offer 90-minute sessions for exam preparation or complex topics. Online sessions include screen sharing for interactive diagrams and virtual whiteboard work.
