About BIDISHA
I am a research fellow in theoretical physics with six years of research experience after PhD. I have genuine love and passion for Maths and Science. I try to spend a lot of my time teaching students because I really want to help and motivate younger people in developing the required scientific skills. My past students particularly mentioned that I have good teaching and communication skills. When I was little, I had a tough time grasping the ideas of Mathematics. However, I received the guidance of a couple of excellent teachers in my life who helped and inspired me to become a pro in Maths and Physics and without them I do not think I will be the person that I am today. I have seen that with commitment and hard work we are capable of achieving anything and everything in life. But the commitment does not come under peer pressure, it has to come from within. My teaching style is to inculcate the love and passion for Maths and Physics in a fun way and not under pressure. This way the students can excel in Maths and science in the long run. I believe this also helps shape their personalities to becoming kind and considerate human beings.

I am passionate about teaching and put my best efforts and enthusiasm to teach the students. I focus on developing clear understanding of the topics in Maths and Physics because these are foundational in life irrespective of the career path one chooses later on. In doing so I am always happy to explain the concepts multiple times if required. I recognise that every student is different and has different interests. Hence I provide physical examples and applications of abstract ideas and equations whenever possible. I encourage questions and comments from students as well as ask questions during the class to create an exciting interactive environment. I also do enough tutorial sessions with the students and actively help them in solving their homework/assignments so that they get super comfortable with the curriculum. I highly appreciate feedback from students to improvise on the teaching. The typical length of a session can be 1 or 1.5 hrs. I teach GCSE and A level Maths and Physics. My first teaching experience was during my PhD when I designed and delivered a set of informal undergraduate lectures on General Relativity and Black hole Physics at the Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. I delivered a lecture course on Conformal Field Theory for graduate students and postdocs at IIT Kanpur, India which primarily focussed on the development of the basics of conformal field theory with applications in string theory. During the final year of my PhD, I worked as a teaching assistant (TA) for a one-semester course on General Relativity for graduate students. My role as a teaching assistant involved checking students’ assignment solutions and explaining the correct answers in weekly tutorial sessions. I received excellent student feedback during this course and feedback comments particularly mentioned my good teaching skills during tutorial sessions. During my first postdoc, I was invited to deliver a nine-hour lecture course on scattering amplitudes for graduate students and senior researchers at the Indian Institute of Science. Additionally, I have delivered several journal club lectures on advanced topics in high energy physics during my PhD and postdoc years. I have supervised numerous undergraduate, masters and PhD students at the Southampton University in their research projects and this involved teaching lots of new concepts of Maths and Physics. I have also taught and volunteered for a social service club to promote education among underprivileged children in India.

I am writing this open letter to recommend Bidisha for her skills in math and physics, coding, and communicating technical work.
She was my Ph.D. student from 2012 to 2017 at the Institute of Physics (IOP) in Bhubaneshwar, India. I have interacted with many young researchers in India over the years; Bidisha stands out as one of the brightest. She was among the most sincere, resourceful, intelligent, and hard-working students in IOP's Ph.D. program. Her performance in the graduate coursework was excellent, and this is reaffirmed by the fact that she was awarded the L K Panda best pre-doctoral student award in 2013.
Over the years, she has published several papers. Most of these projects also require detailed coding, and each paper requires significant technical work, reaffirming Bidisha's excellent math, physics, and coding skills.
She has given invited talks on her research projects at various places in India and abroad. She was invited to speak four times at the Indian Strings Meetings, twice at the national version and twice at the international version. Several people have independently told me that they are impressed with her work and presentation. She is a clear, confident speaker.
In summary, Bidisha is a bright, hard-working, energetic person. I strongly recommend her for any job that requires technical work. I have worked with several younger people in India and abroad over the years, and I can say with confidence that Bidisha is one of the best I have interacted with.I am writing this letter to highly recommend my colleague Dr Bidisha Chakrabarty for her exceptional skills and strong background in Mathematics and Physics. I have known her for the past two years in professional capacity while working with her at the University of Southampton. Having closely discussed with her on various ideas of Maths and Physics, I have witnessed her remarkable dedication, expertise, and passion for these fields. She is a great and confident communicator and has exceptional skills in explaining difficult Maths and Physics concepts in very pedagogical ways. She can effectively convey complex ideas and findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, which greatly enhances her impact as a researcher and teacher.
Bidisha possesses a deep understanding of complex mathematical concepts and demonstrates a strong command over the principles of Physics. Her ability to analyze and solve intricate problems is truly impressive. Throughout our discussions, I have consistently been amazed by Bidisha's ability to think critically and apply her mathematical and physical knowledge to real-world scenarios.
Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend Bidisha for any teaching opportunities in the field of Mathematics and Physics. Her outstanding skills, dedication, passion for these subjects and a very helpful nature make her an exceptional teaching candidate who will undoubtedly make significant contributions not only to her students but also to the organization she becomes a part of.I have known Bidisha for the last six years in personal capacity. She has been an exceptional scholar in Mathematics and Physics with a distinguished academic track record including a PhD in Physics and two successful postdoctoral positions, the recent one is at the University of Southampton, UK. Bidisha possesses a profound understanding of the subjects. Besides excellent research track record, her teaching prowess is remarkable, effortlessly conveying intricate concepts to students while nurturing their enthusiasm for learning. Bidisha's ability to create a supportive and inclusive environment fosters student engagement and facilitates comprehensive understanding. With unwavering professionalism, dedication, and a genuine passion for education. Bidisha is an invaluable asset to any student seeking excellence in Mathematics and Physics.
Sincerely,
Rahul Datta
