About John
I received a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Carleton College and a Doctorate from the University of Texas, concentrating on physical chemistry. I just recently retired from the semiconductor industry where I had 35 years of experience, recognized as an expert in the field of Lithography. I very much enjoy helping students understand chemistry about it, am pretty "passionately geeky" as my wife says. I also enjoy fly fishing, am a high school football official, and travel with my wife.

I have taught classes in the semiconductor industry, and have five years of tutoring experience. I enjoy working with high school and college chemistry students in general chem, physical chemistry, organic, and more! My approach is to be sure that you understand the relatively few fundamental principles (from Physics mostly!) which will explain a great deal of chemical properties, behavior, and reactivity. We work on your problems, but ensure that you have a good understanding of the principles involved.
