About Selah
I completed a PhD in Piano Studies and Musical Interpretation after years of advanced study in instrumental performance, composition, and artistic communication during my academic journey. Over the past 6 years, I have worked with students from different backgrounds and skill levels, helping them improve through personalised instruction and supportive mentorship. Teaching piano allows me to combine creativity, communication, and artistic expression in a rewarding and meaningful way. I enjoy helping learners become more confident musicians through engaging and practical lessons.
My teaching approach focuses on adaptability, patience, and balanced musical development. Some students improve best through structured technical repetition, while others respond more naturally to improvisation and creative exploration. I carefully adapt lessons according to each learner’s comfort level, confidence, and artistic goals. Along with technical improvement, I help students strengthen listening ability, rhythm awareness, expressive playing, and performance readiness. Creating a supportive and encouraging learning atmosphere remains one of my highest priorities as a teacher.
Outside teaching, I continue practising piano, exploring different musical styles, and studying educational approaches that help keep lessons motivating and inspiring. Music remains an important source of creativity and emotional expression in my life. One of the most rewarding parts of teaching is seeing students become more expressive and self-assured throughout their musical journey.

My piano lessons focus on helping students strengthen technical foundations while developing confidence and creativity through structured and supportive learning experiences. I teach note reading, rhythm accuracy, finger independence, hand coordination, expressive phrasing, and dynamic control using practical exercises that feel approachable for learners at every stage. Lessons also include improvisation tasks, sight-reading activities, timing exercises, duet practice, and ear training that help students improve steadily through regular repetition. I create a calm and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable exploring music while building healthy technical habits. Every lesson supports both musical growth and artistic individuality together.
Beginners focus on keyboard awareness, posture, scales, and simple melodies through organised routines and patient instruction that build healthy playing habits gradually. Intermediate learners improve coordination between both hands, smoother transitions, expressive timing, and rhythmic consistency through guided exercises and focused studies. Advanced students strengthen emotional interpretation, advanced repertoire, stage confidence, and performance preparation through detailed coaching sessions. I carefully adapt lessons according to each learner’s pace, confidence, and musical goals so progress remains balanced and encouraging throughout the learning process.
Learning piano should feel enjoyable, creative, and personally meaningful. I encourage students to appreciate gradual progress while building confidence through supportive feedback and regular practice. Many learners become more expressive and independent as their musical understanding continues growing naturally over time. My goal is to help students strengthen both technical skill and artistic confidence while creating a lasting connection with music.
