About Katherine
I completed a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and have spent the past 5 years helping students discover the joy of learning piano. My passion for teaching grew from seeing how music can positively influence confidence, creativity, and personal growth. Working with learners of different ages has taught me the importance of flexibility and patience. Each student brings unique strengths, interests, and learning styles that shape the teaching experience.
My approach combines technical instruction with musical exploration. I want students to understand why they are learning a skill rather than simply repeating exercises. Lessons are designed to be supportive, encouraging, and engaging. I focus on building strong foundations while creating opportunities for creative expression. Students receive clear explanations, practical feedback, and consistent encouragement throughout their progress.
Outside teaching, I enjoy performing, exploring new repertoire, and studying different piano teaching methods. These experiences help me bring fresh ideas into every lesson. Watching students develop confidence and musical independence is incredibly rewarding. I believe music should be accessible, inspiring, and enjoyable for everyone. My goal is to help learners build skills they can enjoy for a lifetime.

My piano lessons focus on helping students develop a natural connection with music while building strong technical foundations. From the beginning, learners work on hand coordination, finger control, note recognition, rhythm reading, and musical expression. I believe students learn best when every skill has a clear purpose, so I connect exercises directly to pieces they enjoy playing. Lessons include sight reading practice, scale development, chord understanding, articulation control, and listening activities that strengthen musical awareness. Each session encourages steady progress while keeping learning enjoyable and meaningful.
Every student learns differently, so I adapt lessons to individual needs and goals. Some learners are interested in classical repertoire, while others enjoy contemporary arrangements or accompaniment styles. I use structured practice methods, rhythm-building activities, and creative interpretation exercises to help students grow confidently. Technical challenges are broken into manageable steps, making difficult concepts easier to understand. Supportive guidance helps students remain motivated throughout their learning journey.
I aim to help students become confident and independent musicians. Lessons develop not only performance skills but also concentration, discipline, and creative thinking. As students progress, they gain a deeper appreciation for music and stronger confidence in their abilities. Every achievement is celebrated, and every lesson is designed to move learners closer to their personal musical goals.
