About Lily May

Hi! I’m Lily. Music has been the centre of my life for as long as I can remember. I started playing the piano at age 4 and took up the clarinet at age 5.

Because I started so young, I’ve spent nearly a decade living and breathing music. I’ve progressed from the very first 'middle C' to achieving my Grade 8 in Clarinet and now performing at Diploma level on the Piano, and have become a music scholar in school.

Why I love teaching:

Since I’ve been a music student for almost 10 years, I remember every stage of the journey—from the first time I opened a tutor book to the excitement of my first concert. I know exactly how to help a beginner find their way because I’ve been in their shoes!

My approach:

I am patient, encouraging, and I know how to make practice feel less like a chore and more like a hobby. Whether you are a young child starting your very first lesson or an older beginner looking for a friendly 'practice buddy,' I can help you with:

• Solid Foundations: Great hand posture and finger technique from day one.

• Music Reading: Making sense of those black dots on the page!

• Confidence: Helping you play songs you actually love.

I’m looking forward to sharing everything I’ve learnt over the last 9 years with some new students!

About the lesson

I am an exceptionally talented 13-year-old musician, and a music scholar in school. I have already achieved Grade 8 Clarinet and is currently at Diploma level for Piano.

Why Choose a Peer Tutor?

As a high-achieving student, I "speaks the language" of younger learners. I make lessons:

• Relatable: I remembers exactly what it was like to be a beginner.

• Encouraging: I focuses on fun, modern pieces and solid foundational habits.

• Affordable: Perfect for parents who want high-quality guidance without the "professional professor" price tag.

What I Offer:

• 30-minute in person or online sessions: Perfect for shorter attention spans.

• "Find the Keys" Programme: Learning to navigate the keyboard, basic rhythm, and playing their first simple song.

• Practice Support: If your child already has a teacher but needs a "practice buddy" to help them through their holiday homework.

Perfect! Lily was great with my kids and did the great job teaching

See the response Lily May
Teaching Bota’s children was a wonderful experience! Both are exceptionally good piano learners. Her son is remarkably focused, productive, and dedicated during lessons, while her daughter is cheerful, polite, and deeply engaging. Bota has raised wonderful kids, and I would love to teach them again!
