About Kate
I am a piano tutor with over 9 years of experience teaching college students, helping them build technical skills and musical expression. My teaching approach is student-centred and adaptable, ensuring lessons suit each learner’s pace and goals.
I emphasise proper technique, sight-reading, rhythm, and music theory while using creative methods such as improvisation exercises, composition projects, and modern music arrangements. I also focus on developing performance confidence and emotional expression in music.
I strive to create a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable exploring their creativity and improving their skills. My goal is to make piano learning enjoyable, meaningful, and rewarding for every student.

My approach to teaching piano is student-centred, creative, and structured. I aim to help students enjoy learning while developing strong technical and musical skills.
Creativity is incorporated through improvisation, creative exercises, and exploring different music styles. Students are encouraged to express themselves and stay motivated throughout each lesson.
As a mentor and critical thinker, I guide students to understand rhythm, finger technique, scales, chords, and musical expression in simple terms. Students learn to analyse their playing and improve steadily.
Accountability is emphasised through goal setting, structured practice routines, and regular progress reviews. This helps students stay disciplined, consistent, and confident.
Along with piano, I teach music theory, sight reading, ear training, rhythm skills, keyboard basics, and simple composition to support comprehensive musical growth.
