About Zara
I’m a piano tutor with 6 years of experience and a Bachelor of Arts in Musicology, specializing in piano history. My teaching focuses on jazz piano improvisation, comping techniques, and developing a rich harmonic vocabulary. I believe that mastering jazz requires a holistic approach that combines theory, ear training for complex chords, transcription, and rhythmic precision. My lessons are designed to deepen your understanding of jazz language and enhance your spontaneous musical expression. Whether you are an Early Intermediate player or an Advanced Intermediate, I tailor my teaching to meet your unique goals. I have also worked with Professional and Expert jazz musicians seeking to refine their skills. Through focused practice and creative exploration, you’ll build confidence in improvisation and comping. I emphasize listening closely and internalizing jazz phrasing to help you communicate with authenticity. My goal is to support your growth as a well-rounded jazz pianist. If you’re ready to dive into the exciting world of jazz and unlock your creative voice, I’m here to guide you. Let’s begin your journey toward spontaneous musical expression together.

My teaching approach centers on building confidence and helping students deliver memorable performances. I focus on managing performance anxiety and developing strong stage presence. Together, we practice effective memorization techniques that make preparing for recitals and auditions easier and more reliable.
I’m skilled at supporting Exam Takers and Church Musicians who often face pressure to perform flawlessly. My lessons provide practical tools to overcome nerves and maintain focus under pressure. We work on calming strategies and positive mindset exercises to help you feel comfortable and ready.
In addition to technical skills, I emphasize the expressive side of playing, so every performance connects with the audience. You’ll learn how to convey artistry and emotion through your music. My goal is to help you perform with confidence and authenticity.
Each lesson is tailored to your needs, whether preparing for exams or leading worship services. You’ll gain both musical and personal growth to shine on any stage. Let’s work together to unlock your full performance potential and make every appearance a success.
