About Emily

I'm a qualified and experienced Portuguese language teacher with a degree in Portuguese Language and Literature and a native Portuguese speaker. I have been successfully helping students from around the world at every level, from beginner to advanced. I teach General and Business Portuguese.

My lessons are completely customised to your individual needs. My aim is to bring you up to the highest level of Portuguese in the shortest possible time to improve your social life, career prospects or academic goals that you may want to achieve. Depending on your strengths and weaknesses I focus certain aspects of Portuguese such as conversation, pronunciation, grammar or writing. Everyone has different goals. This may be increasing social confidence or even preparing for a job interview.

My students tell me that I am friendly, helpful, hard-working and flexible. I have taught students from all over the world, helping them to integrate into the Brazilian and Portuguese culture, both socially and professionally. I offer short term (intensive) and long term one-to-one courses.

HOW THE LESSONS WORK

We begin with an initial free Skype assessment; the objective being to discover where you are in terms of your Portuguese, and where you want to be by the end of the course.

I offer a friendly one-to-one service focusing on your specific needs depending on the particular goal you require.

I will show you very clear, easy to learn and above all highly effective strategies in which to optimise your abilities in each part of the exam.

I supply all materials, photocopies from the latest books, recordings for listening etc.

I offer a recording service, so as to listen back, monitor and analyse your speaking skills together.

Pronunciation and accent reduction techniques.

A comprehensive lexical, punctuation, spelling and grammatical analysis of all writing.

Reading and listening error avoidance strategies.

A guaranteed increase in your confidence practising all the skills.

I also am able to teach General Portuguese at all levels.

And above all, 20 years teaching experience.
