About James

An enthusiastic Mathematics teacher with high aspiration and keenness to progress. Strong ability to deliver curriculum outcomes by planning outstanding and differentiated lessons to fully engage every student.

My hands-on experience includes 14 years as a Maths teacher. Being in this position, I developed strategies and innovative approaches to students, thanks to which I was able to increase class performance in Mathematics by more than 75%.

I have strong analytical thinking skills along with excellent communication skills, which enable me to easily and interestingly explain complex concepts to students and develop their critical thinking and ability to solve problems.

About the lesson

Every of my lesson starts with a fun and engaging do now activity to help the students ‘lace up their math's boots’.
The purpose of these is simply to start students ‘thinking mathematically’ – to establish a mathematical mindset
This is usually in the form of games, loop activities, short open ended problems (for which solutions can be shared or discussed)
While delivering the content of the lesson ,which is usually the most important part, I usually do my best to relate Maths to real life context using variety of resources and activities to add fun to the learning and also allow students voice to verbalize their thinking and views ,sometimes I use games and tell stories to exemplify difficult concepts.
Finally ,I use an exit ticket to help summarize and conclude the lesson. This helps the students to also have an idea of what to expect in the next lesson
