About Kamran
I'm a 19-year-old Gonzaga student who lives in Portland, OR during the summer. In college, I'm dual-majoring in education and mathematics. My inspiration for going into education were the many wonderful teachers I've had, and I hope to pass that experience on to the next generation. Academically, I've never gotten below an A in a math class. That said, I am not solely centered on mathematics. I am pursuing an English major, and in both semesters at Gonzaga so far, I have made the president's list for students with a 3.85 or higher semester GPA. While I have never been a paid tutor, I have volunteered at Rogers High School and Garry Middle School during my time at Gonzaga, and have roughly 8 months of experience across both volunteering programs. Furthermore, I've acted as a student tutor for those in my university classes, which I think demonstrates my ability to explain concepts clearly even when I've only just learned them. Personally, I'm pretty regular. I'm a big basketball fan (Go Spurs and Blazers!), an avid rock climber, and I love Super Smash Bros. I hope to be able to connect at a personal level with tutored students, as I believe learning stems from strong student-teacher relationships.

As a tutor for peers in college, I've taken a student-centered approach to helping people with math. I try a variety of methods of explanation that I've seen work well for myself and those around me to help students with specific problem areas. Based on the student's grade level, course, and specified areas that need growth, I hope to be able to break down previously challenging concepts into smaller, approachable pieces. I focus on **past courses** students have taken and could have done better on, acting as a 1-on-1 support. I am willing and able to build individual lesson plans, but cannot reasonably teach a new course over the course of one summer. My lessons are primarily for pre-calculus and calculus students, though I have worked with students taking algebra courses in the past.
