About Genevieve
I am a professional Chess tutor with over 7 years of teaching experience, guiding school and college students to improve their skills and confidence. I have successfully taught around 300 to 350 students, helping them understand the game from basic to advanced levels. My experience allows me to adapt to different learning styles and support each student in their journey.
My teaching philosophy is simple: learn with clarity, practice with purpose, and grow with confidence. I focus on building strong fundamentals in openings, middlegame strategy, endgames, and tactical thinking. I also help students improve important skills like concentration, planning, decision making, and problem solving.
I believe in a structured yet flexible approach. I adjust lessons based on the student’s level and goals, whether they are beginners or preparing for competitions. I use game analysis, puzzles, and practice matches to make learning engaging and effective.
Many of my students have improved their performance in school competitions and developed a strong interest in Chess. My goal is to make every student think smart, play confidently, and enjoy the learning process.

My teaching approach in Chess is clear, flexible, and focused on each student’s growth. I start by understanding the student’s level, goals, and thinking style. This helps me design lessons that are easy to follow and effective. I teach important areas like openings, middlegame strategies, endgames, tactics, positional play, and game analysis. I also include related skills such as logical thinking, problem solving, decision making, pattern recognition, and concentration.
I believe in learning by doing. Students solve puzzles, play guided games, and review their own matches to understand mistakes and improve step by step. I use simple explanations so even complex ideas become easy to understand. I also connect Chess with other strategy games like backgammon, checkers, Risk, and Settlers of Catan to improve planning and strategic thinking.
My style is flexible, so I adjust my teaching based on the student’s progress and pace. I maintain integrity by being honest, supportive, and focused on real improvement. Time management is important in my sessions, and I teach students how to think efficiently under pressure. My goal is to build confidence, strong fundamentals, and a winning mindset in every student.
