About Dusan

I am a jazz pianist and keyboardist, playing in all sorts of venues and events for more than 15 years, from concerts, to bars and clubs. I've studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, one of the best European jazz schools, where there was a strong emphasis on getting deep into what makes a certain style, whether it's jazz bebop, blues, or contemporary jazz, and I've carried that attitude, commitment and professionalism over, to whatever musical endeavour I undertook later on. As for teaching, I have a sincere passion for it, and I hold nothing back. I'm happy to show everything I know, because I love music, and I want to help everyone play the best they possibly can.

About the lesson

I am a full-time teacher, in addition to playing gigs and concerts, so by now, I've developed my own ways of explaining things, helping my students solve issues, and identifying what needs to be worked on, and what needs to be practised. I teach both jazz approach, and classical. Jazz being understanding the chords, theory and practising improvisation, and classical being reading music, and it depends on what the student prefers, and is trying to achieve. With regards to really learning and understanding what's happening in music, I would say music is melody, harmony, and rhythm, so we focus on these things, in order for a student to master them, and be able to express within those elements, like one would with a spoken language.
