About Kayla

I’ve worked as a full-time French educator in top ranked public high schools and universities in Massachusetts for the past decade.

I believe that anyone can learn another language (at any age!) and am passionate about sharing my love for French and francophone culture with others.

I am fully trained in modern language pedagogy and universally designed learning. My student-focused curriculum is proven to meet the individual needs of all learners.

At the beginning of our lessons, students will take a short language survey to assess their level and interests. Together we’ll choose a lesson set (short units on anything from greetings to travel to street food and more) to best meet their goals!

Every lesson comes with bonus materials and level-up exercises so that students can keep learning on their own at their own pace.

About the lesson

In my lessons, students learn French through a cultural lens by using engaging authentic resources like social media, TV shows, films, short stories, articles, and more. I particularly enjoy teaching through stories.

Typical Lesson:
-Daily warm-up
-Vocab Game
-Story/Discussion/Video
-Exit Task to show learning
(short writing, share opinion, fill in blanks, true/false, record a message, mini-quiz)

Expectations:
-All lessons are 90% or more in French (both student and teacher)
-15-20 minutes of “homework” between lessons (TV show, French in the media, conjugation practice, songs, online flash cards , discussion posts)
- Linguists recommend spending at least 15 minutes per day with your new language. Anything that’s fun and in French counts!
