About Michael
My name is Michael, and I am a Mechanical Engineer and University Lecturer with a real passion for helping students succeed. I studied at Teesside University, where I achieved a First Class Honours in Mechanical Engineering followed by an MSc in Mechanical Engineering. Alongside my studies, I have worked in engineering for more than 13 years, gaining valuable experience that I now bring into my teaching. I chose to become a tutor because I enjoy seeing students grow in confidence as they begin to understand subjects that once felt out of reach. Teaching at university has shown me how important it is to support learners at every stage — from the basics at GCSE, through to advanced topics at A-Level and early university level. Nothing is more rewarding to me than watching a student realise they can achieve more than they first believed. As a tutor, I aim to make lessons clear, practical, and engaging, always connecting theory with real-world examples. My goal is not only to help students pass exams but to help them develop skills and understanding that will serve them in the long term. I want every student to feel motivated, supported, and confident in their learning journey.

My teaching method combines real-world engineering knowledge with structured academic principles, helping students not only understand the subject but also see its practical applications. A typical lesson lasts 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the student’s needs, and always includes clear explanations, worked examples, and opportunities for independent practice. I provide constructive feedback to ensure steady progress and build confidence over time. I hold a First Class BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering and an MSc in Mechanical Engineering, and I currently teach Materials Science and Engineering modules at Teesside University. With over 13 years of professional engineering and teaching experience, I bring both academic expertise and practical insight to my sessions. My lessons are suitable for GCSE and A-Level students in Maths, Physics, and Engineering, as well as University students up to Level 4 who are looking for support in engineering-related subjects. Whether you are preparing for exams, improving coursework performance, or aiming to strengthen your technical understanding, I will help you achieve your goals with a structured, supportive, and professional approach.
