About Amy

I am currently working freelance in the professional music industry as a producer / sound engineer for 6 recording studios (Abbey Road, RAK, Metropolis, Ten87, the band Rudimental, and David Wrench) since finishing university. I have a Masters degree in Record Production with Distinction and a Bachelors (Hons) in Performance and Recording with First. I have had 6 years of music education from college level (achieved Distinction) through to my Masters degree. During this time, I also completed several work experience placements at some of London's top studios including British Grove Studios, The Church Studios, and Resident Studios where I also currently work as a sound engineer. I have experience in engineering, recording, producing, mixing, songwriting, playing instruments, using analogue and digital equipment (including both Neve and SSL mixing desks), using electronic/acoustic/live recording techniques, setting up extensive microphone configurations, solving technical problems eg in signal flow or hardware repair. During these placements, I have shadowed a variety of recording sessions from Ellie Goulding, to Mark Knopfler, to an orchestral session for the BBC. I am classically trained on piano achieving Grade 7 with Distinction. I also have Grade 5 music theory with Distinction. I studied to sit my Grade 8 theory but the exam was cancelled due to Covid. I am also a professional pop singer. I have been writing songs for as long as I can remember and have written hundreds of songs in many genres such as soul, jazz, indie, R&B, hip hop, pop, rock.

About the lesson

In your lessons which will typically last around an hour, we will discuss your overall goals which we will then breakup into short-term goals. This could be general (eg. become a better mixer) or more specific (eg. struggles with creating muddy mixes). I can help you with specific projects you are struggling with or walk you through aspects of music you struggle with so you can apply this into your future projects. I will help you through your techniques and offer insight into improving them. I will teach you what the technical language means and how to use the tech to achieve what you want.

My lessons are for people of any age from beginner level to bachelors. Lessons are for all purposes whether as a hobby, for education, for fun or with prospects of becoming a professional. I am relatively new to teaching but have tutored friends during our degree. I'm sure we can have fun, engaging and enriching lessons to progress you further towards your goals in music!

I am proficient with Logic Pro X and have experience with Pro Tools.

Perfect! I have learned so much in my classes with Amy, she is such an excellent teacher!
There are so many subjects she knows about, from the basics to professional music composition, and she was always willing to explain anything I wanted to know. She has a lot of patience when she teaches and she approaches any subject with fun and enthusiasm.

I have thoroughly enjoyed these lessons. She has always been welcoming, attentive and engaged. Her passion about music and growing her abilities is very clear. She is a good, attentive listener but also asks great questions and doesn't hesitate to clarify anything. Her current knowledge about music creation showed a lot of areas of growth from the ground up and a lot of ability to work on her technical skills to a high standard.
