About Tom
I am friendly and easy to get along with. I have patience in abundance and I am great with children. I love my profession and I can't wait to teach you new things, help you develop your skills and give you added confidence! I have done a lot in my life so far. I've been a butcher, a baker, (but not a candlestick maker), a soldier, a manager and a teacher. With a wealth of knowledge and a love of life experiences, hopefully I can pass down some of my wisdom on to you! As well as being a native English speaker, I can speak Greek and I am learning Mandarin Chinese too. I have a passion for languages and word play. I love teaching and I have done it for many years. I was a Primary School teacher in England for six years, then I moved abroad to teach the English language to non-native speakers. I love reading and writing short stories and ridiculous rhymes. I am fond of etymology and love studying other languages to see where a word came from or what associations I can make.

Do you want extra help with some or all of the primary school curriculum? Are you learning to speak English? Do you want to improve your poetry analysis or inference skills? I have lessons, activities and help for a wide range of students! I offer fun and interactive classes for younger children, optional homework activities and real-time online practice. I would suggest lessons of 30-45 minutes to get the most out of the learning experience without feeling overwhelmed, especially for young children. Lessons can be as long or as short as you want or need them to be. Older children and adults can discuss with me what suits them best and I will prepare specific material for each lesson. I have taught and tutored people of all ages online and in person. I have helped with GCSE preparation, proofreading dissertations, teaching five-year-old twins how to speak English, given extra classes to students in Primary School who just needed an extra push, and many more!
