About Abkareem

I really love to teach Chemistry and Biochemistry as I have completed a Bachelors degree with Honors in Biochemistry and Chemical Biology, Wayne State University, MI. Through my experience as a student, I loved helping my colleagues in college and I worked as an instructor assistant for a College-based Biology class where I helped the Professor in Lab experiments and grading exams. I have been teaching students from middle school to high school from 2019 to present. I am also planning to begin medical school to become a family medicine physician which gives me the opportunity to educate my patients.
I will always do my best to help my students by explaining the key concepts in different ways while maintaining professionalism.

About the lesson

A. My teaching Method involves :
1. Relating Chemistry and Biochemistry concepts to everyday life
2. Using different ways to explain a concept or present an information
3. Engaging the student by asking simple questions
4. Identify what needs to be memorized and understood by using hand-drawn pictures

B. Learning objectives
1. Understanding objectives: Involves making sure student is able to identify important concepts to be understood
2. Knowledge objectives : involves students recognizing what needs to be memorized for the purpose of retention and the best methods to memorize a concept

C. Lesson Plans:
1. Introduction: Gives the student a general overview of what to expect from the lesson. Important outside resources will be mentioned and list of important terms will be known
2. Learning activities: Includes :
-explanation of the lesson
-Drill question to help student know more detail
-Discussions for students to ask questions
-Closing : overall summary and oral reading of terms and definitions
-Assignment containing only seven questions for the purpose of review and retention

** What sets me apart as a tutor: I have gained experience on how to make sure students retain important concepts with ease by using spaced repetition within learning activities and other mnemonic techniques
** Lessons are for middle schoolers to college students
