About Elan

I am a recent graduate from Purdue University with a BS in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering and a minor in Nuclear Engineering. I have been working in Fight Controls with Boeing since August 2022. I have been tutoring students in math and science since my junior year of high school and have tutored dozens of students throughout my years in college. It is truly a passion of mine to see students connect better with STEM concepts and watch themselves understand the wonders of math in more depth.

I earned an 800 on my SAT Math section, 800 on SAT Math II Subject test, 36 on ACT Math and ACT Science, and 5's on AP Calculus BC, AP Physics C, and AP Statistics

About the lesson

For each session, we will discuss the material to be covered in advance and the goals that the student would like to get out of the lesson. I appreciate being sent relevant classwork or homework before the session to be best prepared and use our time effectively.

I like to structure the lesson starting with reading highlights/excerpts of relevant texts with the student to ensure there is an understanding of underlying concepts before we move on to practice questions and applications of the math. I will select an array of example problems that will challenge the student and make them think about how they arrived at an answer, which will solidify the important concepts instead of teaching a formulaic process.

After each lesson, I will provide the student with things to work on for the next lesson as optional extra work. If the parents would like, I will give feedback on how the student is performing and what they need to focus on to improve their quality of work.

I have experience with AP Statistics, AP Calculus, AP Physics, HS geometry and algebra, SAT Math and subject tests, and ACT Math & Science sections
