About Fatima
I am a passionate and experienced music educator based in central London. I am a qualified Music Teacher with QTS and an Enhanced DBS, and I currently teach Music at secondary school.
My academic background is in Classical Music, and alongside teaching I am an active orchestral clarinettist. I also work as a GCSE Music examiner, which gives me a strong understanding of both practical musicianship and academic music education.
I particularly enjoy helping young musicians become more confident, independent and motivated. I believe that when students really understand the music they are playing, they are much more likely to practise with confidence and enjoy the process.
My teaching style is supportive, structured and adapted to each individual student. I aim to create a calm and encouraging environment where students can ask questions, build strong foundations and develop the skills they need to progress independently.
I work with children and young musicians of different ages and levels, both in person in London Bridge / SE1 and online.

I tailor each lesson to the individual student, their age, level and current musical needs.
My main focus is helping students become more confident and independent musicians, particularly between instrumental lessons.
Many young musicians feel overwhelmed when they do not fully understand a score. This can make practice frustrating and reduce motivation.
I teach students how to approach music step by step: understanding notation and rhythm, identifying patterns, breaking difficult passages into manageable sections, and developing effective practice strategies. I use age-appropriate, specialist materials and can also work directly with the repertoire the student is currently learning with their instrumental teacher.
This makes the work immediately relevant and helps students apply new skills to their weekly practice. I also prepare students for ABRSM Music Theory exams, adapting the preparation to their level and individual goals. Lessons are available one-to-one or in small groups, depending on the student’s needs and preferred way of learning.
My aim is to maximise the value of instrumental lessons by helping students arrive better prepared, more confident and able to work independently at home.
