About Elizabeth
Hello! My name is Beth, I am 25 years old and I am a qualified English teacher and PhD student in West Sussex. I am passionate about what I do, and I love to help my students not only develop their academic skills, but also their self-confidence. My lessons are engaging and exciting, and tailored towards the individual needs of my pupils.

Successful teaching is dependent on an understanding of academic and modern teaching practice alongside compassion, flexibility and empathy. I believe that all students have the potential to succeed, and I ensure my lessons are bespoke to the requirements of each of my students. By getting to know the student as an individual and as a learner, I am able to adapt and creative effective lesson plans accordingly, to ensure not only academic progression, but also of confidence and motivation. My lessons are up to an hour long, and I teach KS3, KS4 and KS5.
I was an English teacher for two years in the private sector, before moving into the state sector when I began my PhD in English at the University of Sussex. I completed my PGCE with Sussex in 2021, with Distinction, and before that had worked as a Graduate English Teacher. I have an extensive academic background, with a B.A. (hons) in English Literature from Durham University and an MLitt from St Andrews University in Women, Writing and Gender.
