About Elliot

I teach because I think Science is important and every students should be able to get the grades they want/need, but there is often not enough time, or individual attention, to teach the content properly in school lessons.

I achieved 10 A* grades at GCSE. In addition, I have A levels in all three sciences and Psychology (A*-A grades). I have a First Class undergraduate degree from the University of Oxford in Human Sciences. I completed my PGCE in Secondary Science with the University of Leeds, and I am currently studying a Masters degree in Education and Psychology at the University of Sheffield. I am very passionate about how students learn, and how best to teach!

I am (enhanced) DBS checked, and am registered with the DBS update service.

About the lesson

Science can be daunting at GCSE and A level. I am a passionate Science teacher with years of classroom experience, and I am willing to try different approaches to break complex topics down and make them easy and accessible for you.

I am up to date with the latest methods for teaching and learning. I have plenty of excellent resources to share with you. Together, we can cover topics at your own pace (with lots of exam preparation and past papers!) to make sure you feel confident walking into any exam.

I am offering sessions for secondary students: KS3, GCSE, and A level. Lessons are typically 1-2 hours in length, and I usually offer 1-2 sessions a week, with the possibility of more around exam time.

The introductory session includes:

- Reviewing your curriculum or exam specification to identify strengths and weaknesses in particular areas.
- Setting goals.
- Planning your learning journey for the coming weeks.

Subsequent sessions include:

- Activating prior knowledge and identifying misconceptions.
- Reteaching where necessary.
- Lots of practice!
- Formative assessment.

However, this is not prescriptive and will be tailored to your individual needs.
