About Daniel

Ever since primary school, I have had a special passion for English. From the joy of crafting creative writing pieces, to exploring my interpretations of texts through essay writing, English was a subject that allowed me to express myself and engage with deeper ideas about the world. love the subject of English, and even if you don't feel the same love, I want you to be able to enjoy your experience of learning with me as your tutor.

Whilst school can be great, too often it can leave you feeling a little lost in lessons. I cater my one-to-one lessons to help you not only understand the content, but feel confident in your interpretations and writing.

About the lesson

I have worked as a secondary school GCSE and A-level English teacher for the past seven years, and am committed to both inspiring a love for the subject and getting the best results for students.

Other than being an experienced and qualified English teacher, my qualifications include: English Literature BA from the University of Sussex, and an MA in English Education from UCL.

I consider myself a friendly and approachable tutor who believes the best way to approach the subject is not by talking at students, but generating conversations around interpretations of texts.

This is clearly reflected in examiners' reports and exam board assessment objectives which state that exam boards look for personal opinions on literature and language, not formulaic answers.

I look to step away from approaches to answering questions which rely on PEE/ PETAL/ PEEL type paragraph structures which have been profusely rejected by examiners, and instead look to develop my students' individual writing style (of course with a serious focus on assessment objectives whilst doing so).

I mainly teach students enrolling with AQA and Edexcel.
