About Philippe
I was a lecturer at the University of Chicago (1992-1996), and a tenure-track assistant professor (1996-1998). I was then in charge of the professional technical development of over 1,000 Deloitte employees until retiring in 2020. I am currently teaching professionals at another large U.S. multinational corporation. I have both the academic background and the practical experience of teaching technical materials to professionals. I have great patience and know how to motivate learning and adjust teaching style when necessary.

I cover all levels from high school to college to graduate level. I am particularly interested in teaching calculus, stochastic calculus, linear algebra, and the other mathematical fields important to economics, finance, and physics. I have over 30 years experience teaching (including at the University of Chicago undergraduate and graduate classes).
My approach is effective--I first teach ideas placed in their historical context (what was the problem, how did researchers go about solving the problem, what did work, what did not and why). Once students understand the ideas, I teach how these ideas translate into models, equations, and results. Students don't have to memorize equations, if they understand the ideas behind them, they will be able to write these equations.
