About James

Aerospace engineer with experience in several projects involving numerical modelling and complex calculations, including aerodynamic analysis, coding scripts for parametric optimisation, and high performance composite analysis with automated stress and failure calculations. I love the subjects I study and have scored well in maths based modules. The subjects I have studied at university involved high-level concepts and complex maths. Throughout my studies I gained significant experience in breaking down complex concepts and now use this skill to help secondary school students better their understanding of topics.

About the lesson

Over the course of the 4 year integrated master's degree I have gained a solid grounding in mathematics and its applications. Aerospace engineering requires students to be capable in pure mathematics, mechanics (applied mathematics), and statistics. To this end, all students take a mathematics module in their first year to ensure a complete understanding of maths up to and including the full A-level maths syllabus, and at least a partial understanding of A-level further maths (such as imaginary numbers). In this module I scored a high first class (81). Combined with a B at A-level, an A at GCSE, and several years of applying complex maths to engineering projects, I am well equipped to support students through their maths courses. Furthermore I hold an enhanced DBS certificate and level 1 safeguarding children certification. I love the subjects I study and have scored well in maths based modules such as Aeronautical Engineering (70), and Aircraft Aerodynamics and Performance (70). Having been through GCSEs, A-levels, and a master's degree, I can provide students with support in several ways: - Introducing and teaching new concepts - Providing alternative explanations and methodologies for students struggling with a concept - Homework support - Study skills I provide online sessions across a range of platforms, such as Teams, Canvas, Skype, Bramble, and Zoom. Session lengths can be tailored to suit individual needs, from 30 minutes to 2 hours. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out!
